Ups and Downs

Well Shayboy continues to keep taking us on the emotional roller coaster. Today was less than a good day. One of Shay's lungs continue to be a problem. Shay had to be put on medicine today to bring his heart rate down. The accelerated heart could be due to several things including pain or being messed with by the doctors. Shay also had some issues with his blood pressure today. Shay had been taken off the dyalsis machine but had to be put back on because his kidneys are not functioning properly.

I was hoping Shay might be off his sedation medicine enough to talk to him this weekend but it doen't look real favorable at this point. The bottom line is Shay is not out of the woods and needs our prayer. I would also ask that you pray for Shay's mom and dad. I know that it is becoming taxing hearing goods news one day and then bad news the next. This is obviously going to be a long process so please pray for patience for Shay's support group. I would also ask that you continue to pray for his doctors.  Thanks everybody!

  1. The Acosta family is all here praying. My heart goes out to Chris and Danny; a parent's job never ends. We will do what we can to help but know that although today was not as expected, Jesus is still with Shay and never doubt your faith and trust in God.
Keep the faith and as parents take time to walk away long enough to gain your strength and perspective - go on a walk together.
    Bless you all!

  4. We are on the roller coaster right with you. Please keep ALL news coming so our prayers and praises can coincide. Everyone here is still thinking of you minute-by-minute and praying with dedication for the entire Stallings family. Shay is definitely a priority right now and will remain to be until he is home and feeling well. Thanks for sharing your ups and downs so that we may be considerate of your situation in our daily lives. I'll be praying for all of you tonight. God bless and rest.

  6. Hey ShayMAN! I have the cutest 2-year-old girl (Emaley) running around my house carrying this 8x10 picture of you with braces on saying, “My Shayboy. My Shayboy.” (Of course Allie is egging her on by retorting, “No, MY Shayboy.” I know, it’s hard to believe Allie would do that.) I’m working on getting Emaley on board with my ShayMAN campaign. She sure misses you.

We are getting ready to head to football supper. Because I love you so much, I am going to eat an extra one of Mrs. Houk’s cookies just for you. I know, I’m the truest friend you could ever have. When you get back here, I will get a special order of her cookies just for you. Until then, I will continue to take one for Team Shay.

I am still praying for you and baby Pearl. You keep resting up. Don’t let your Aunt Kelly talk your leg off this weekend. We love you.

  7. Chris, We continue to pray for Shay every day. This can't be easy on you and our family. I can't imagine what you and your family is going through but it must be extremely taxing both mentally and physically. I know that you pray every day and God is listening Chris. Just have a little more patience and have faith in The Lord. God Bless. Linda Everhart

  8. Christy and Danny,

It is almost like you were reading our thoughts today. Chris and I have said all the same words, just today. One of our dr's said it is a roller coaster and a marathon. We were visited today by a pastor from Lebanon Mo, it was so uplifting. Being reminded that Miracles happen everyday. We are praying for you as parents, and for healing for Shay.

  10. Dear Chris and Danny,

Everyone at Acosta and my entire prayer chain are still praying for Shay. I receive emails and calls daily asking about his progress. The update on the liver is a little concerning, but we will up the prayers. My mom has daily devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, that Shay's young heart will be healed. My dad's devotion is to St. Jude - the patron Saint of Hopeless Causes. Continue to find strength in our Lord and each other.

    Take Care,
    Jackie
