Surgery is Over

They have finished with surgery, they removed the upper left lobe of his lung, the remaining lower left lobe is still infected but they are hopeful that medicine will heal this in time.  They were able to get Shay off the bypass machine and for now, he is holding his own.

The big test will come later tonight, the Dr.'s want Shay to wake up so they are not going to give him any sedation medicine.  They want to do some tests to see if he has suffered any signifigant brain injury while they were administering CPR.  Please concentrate your prayers on Shay's brain function.  Please Lord, continue to show us your miricles and preserve Shay's brain, keep him whole, show him your love.

This will be my last post tonight, I will follow up in the morning.  Thank you again for your continued prayers!
Christy

  3. In the midst of all the turbulence tonight I am very proud of some people that I want to mention.

First Danny and Christy. I talk about how tough Shay is well apparently he is chip off the old block. I have experienced this tragedy as an uncle not as a parent so I can only imagine what they are experiencing. They have stayed strong and held it together and have been at Shay's side every moment. They have stayed postive and kept the faith in times when it would be easy not to.

Second my daughter Haley. She is a true prayer warrior and has committed herself to seeing that she does everything to help her Shayboy get better. Tonight in the midst of chaos she reminded me of what Pastor Kevin had preached on Sunday. She said dad "we need to find joy in this situation." She called me, Kelly, Macey, Emaley and Grandpa Don into the living room for a circle of prayer when he was in code. I am so proud of this young lady.

Finally I am proud of all of you. A body of believers that have dedicated themsleves to praying for Shay. I know our Heavenly father is proud as well. I am amazed at the scope of people that are praying for Shay. God uses this type of trauma to bring his people together and to cause them to come closer to him. You all can rest in knowing that your faith is being strengthed by this.

  4. As I read this post for a young man I have yet to meet, oh but I will someday, I just sit and cry. You may ask why? The tears I have are not in sadness right now but with his Uncle Chris's post that I just read, it is amazing how so many people are touched by this young man's life. Of course his family is, but it is just profound to me that strangers to him are just as touched. It was not surprising to me that Chris and Kelly's daughter raised him up in prayer at such a critical moment, I have known Kelly for years and knowing the type of person she is makes me realize that there are people out there raising their children to love Jesus and believe in him wholeheartedly. Shay will read this and his heart will runneth over with joy too....It brings alot of things into perspective to me tonight. So, I continue to pray for Shay and his family.
