A Little Update

The main thing going on right now is Shay's infection with the catheter. They are going to try and treat this with an antibiotic. If this does not work they will have to pull it and go through the procedure again. This would not be the best case scenario because it would probably push his stay in ICU back two weeks. Danny met with the kidney doctor this morning and he explained some things with the kidneys. He basically stated that if the kidneys are not functioning with the next month and half then they will most likely not come back. Shay can live up to twenty years on dialysis but ideally we would like to see them just heal. If Shay becomes healthy and strong he could be considered for a transplant. I am not sure how all that would work but I know Me or Kelly would be happy to donate one of our kidneys if need be. Hopefully it will not come to that. I know I am still very hopeful that as Shay comes around more and more that we will see things improve. Shay's lungs are still messy and it looks like he will probably be with the trach for a while. It looks like Shay and family will be in Oklahoma for quite some time. The childrens rehab hospital that Shay will eventually go to requires a parent to be with the child through therapy for some reason. So what that means is Shay's dad will work with him through the day while mom works and then when mom gets off work she will come to the hospital and dad will pick up little brother. Fortunately they have found a church daycare that is going to watch Zane for a minimal cost. This is going to be a hectic time for Shay and family.

  1. Good evening everyone,
Shay's spirits have been a little low today, he slept pretty much through all of the last 6 weeks and doesn't exactly understand where he has come back from like all of us do, and whereas we are prasing God for all of his blessings and just overjoyed that Shay is still with us, he is starting to realize that he has a long road ahead with many more hurdles to overcome. I think it is a bit overwhelming for him as I am sure you can imagine. :)

I am asking everyone to please pray for Shay's kidney's and lungs to heal. Please let God know how much he still needs his healing hand on him. Also, please pray for Shay to feel the comforting hands of the Lord holding him. Ask the Lord to continue to give Shay strength and patience for the journey ahead.

Thank you all so much for your continued support and prayers! God bless you all!

  4. Hey Shay, I talked to your dad this morning and he said you are doing good. He said you seemed a little down. I know you have some hard months ahead of you but think about the prize when you are done. What is this prize I'm talking about... getting to come home to Fair Grove with your family and friends:) I can not wait for this day Shay, so you stay strong and work hard and before you know it you will be home. You will be coming over all the time whipping up on Uncle Chris on the X-box. I will be getting in trouble with your mom for hogging you and always wanting you over at my house, just like the good old days. Shay we love you and miss you so very much. You are always in our prayers. Sorry we can not make it down there this weekend, but we have to get somethings done. We will be there next Friday night, I am already counting down the days. Can not wait to see you then. We love and miss you always.

    Love Aunt Kelly
